§ 66-30. Purpose of these rules.

  • These rules set forth the principles and procedures that are to be followed by the city in its human resources program to ensure that personnel actions are fair and based on merit, and that the citizens of Lauderdale Lakes may derive the benefits and advantages which can be expected to result from a competent staff of city employees. The rules are intended to be consistent with the following fairness, merit and efficiency principles:

    (a)

    Recruiting, selecting and advancing employees on the basis of their relative abilities, knowledge, and skills;

    (b)

    Establishing pay rates consistent with the principle of providing comparable pay for comparable work by periodically updating the pay plan;

    (c)

    Training employees, as needed, to assure high quality performance;

    (d)

    Retaining employees on the basis of the adequacy of their performance, making efforts to correct inadequate performance, and separating employees whose inadequate performance can not be corrected;

    (e)

    Assuring fair treatment of applicants and employees in all aspects of human resources administration without regard to political affiliation, race, color, creed, national origin or ancestry, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or sex, and with proper regard for their privacies and constitutional rights.
